Pixletters challenges you to guess a hidden five-letter word—but instead of the usual color tiles, you get feedback in the form of pixels. Yep, actual colored pixel clues that give hints about the visual shape of the letters you’re guessing. Wild, right?
Each guess unlocks a new layer of insight. Is the letter shaped like it should be? Are you lighting up the right corners of the grid? It’s less “Is this the right letter?” and more “Does this look like the right letter?”
It’s part logic, part deduction, part old-school Tetris vibes. You’re not just thinking about the word—you’re thinking about the design of the word.

How to Play Pixletters
Your mission is to figure out the hidden five-letter word, and you only get five tries to do it.
Each time you make a guess, the game responds with a grid of colored pixels that give clues about each letter’s visual structure—not just whether the letter is correct, but how it looks.
- A blue pixel means you’ve got the right letter in the right spot.
- A green pixel in the top row means the correct letter must include that pixel feature.
- A red pixel in the top row tells you the letter should not contain that pixel.
- As for the gray pixels in the other rows? Those are neutral for now—part of the puzzle you’ll reveal as you go.
With every guess, more pixel rows unlock, helping you narrow down both the letters and the pixel patterns they need (or need to avoid).
It’s a puzzle that rewards careful observation as much as vocabulary.
Pixletters offers three modes:
- Standard Mode: You get pixel feedback as described above.
- PLUS Mode: Clues appear by rows or columns, guided by arrows—adding another layer of strategy.
- PRO Mode: Only one row or column reveals with each guess, for players who want an extra-tough challenge.
What makes Pixletters special is its use of pixels to hint at letter shapes. It’s not just about knowing the word—it’s about decoding how each letter looks.
You can play Pixletters on your browser or download it as an app on iOS and Android. Ready to train your brain in a whole new way? Dive in and start guessing—one pixel at a time.
